  • Bao Tang 2017 Spring

    Bao Tang 2017 Spring
This is a follow up cake to our popular 2013 Bao Tang (now sadly sold out). We love Bao Tang for it's high elevation, and old trees growing in natural forest environment. This tea has a noticeable aroma & flavour of baked rice puffs. And whilst stronger than Yiwu tea, is low on bitterness and very clean & pure - our house style! The second infusion brings out a satisfyingly oily, thick mouthfeel. This tea will make you salivate. Enjoy the hint of mint that comes with the huigan!

    Bai Rui Xiang 2016
Bai Rui Xiang 百瑞香 has over 100 years of history, originating in Hui Yuan Keng, which is a famous valley within the Wuyi protected reserve. The dry leaves have an aroma of Chinese medicinal herbs, and the tea itself is very aromatic - floral, with sweet fruit, and sandalwood. The flavour reflects it's light to medium roast, sweet on the tongue with a cinnamon donut aftertaste! The mouth & throat feel is thick and smooth as you'd expect from a premium zhengyan rock oolong. These are high quality leaves, look out for the dried orange peel note on the aftertaste, and the creamy aroma left behind in the empty cup!

  • Dong Ding Oolong Light Roasted 2016

    50g
Dong Ding Oolong Light Roasted 2016
This Dong Ding Oolong Set allows you to compare Heavy Roasted (50g) versus Light Roasted (50g) styles. The heavy roasted Dongding oolong gives an aroma of dried prunes, old orange peel, roasted sweet potato skin, with a very sweet high note. The flavor is of charcoal, roasted pine, baked nuts. The mouthfeel is dry and thick, not oily like yancha. In comparison, the roasted Dongding is very different, much more grassy & vegetal, but still thick & creamy, with a sweet strawberry milk-like fragrance.

    $37.00

    Ali Shan Tasting Set 2016
This set includes 50g Ali Shan Oolong + 50g Ali Shan Jin Xuan. The oolong leaves spring open very quickly and are simply beautiful, long stem, bud & two leaves. This tea has been expertly processed with great consistency. The liquor is yellow-green, turning to yellow-orange if over steeped. Fantastic aroma - light, floral and green, the mouthfeel is light and creamy with a subtly sweet finish. Pairs perfectly with quiche! By comparison, the dry, heated leaves of the Jin Xuan give an aroma of sugarcane. When steeped, the wet leaves give off melted butter, vegetal notes & baked bread. Later in the session, sweet potato, and caramel are noticeable. The tea liquor is thick, sweet, and grassy, but not astringent. Absolutely delicious! Try it out for yourself!

    Hard Stem Red Heart
硬枝红心 "Yìng zhī hóngxīn" or "hard stem, red heart" is a Taiwan oolong cultivar that has a taste & aroma profile reminiscent of Tieguanyin - sweet, light & delicate, with a cooling effect in the throat. A good tea for practicing tea concentration & focus. Grown in PingLin, a beautiful tea plantation & biodiverse, water catchment area in the northwest of Taiwan.

  • Insect-Bitten Imperial Concubine
    $50.00
    100g
    Insect-Bitten Imperial Concubine
A spectacular tea with an unusual name to match - 蜒咬贵妃茶 Insect-Bitten Imperial Concubine! This highly oxidised, dark roasted, Taiwanese oolong has a heady aroma of honey orchid, tree resin & dark blackberries. We recommend fast infusions as it produces a dark amber liquor with thick mouthfeel very quickly. This tea has surprising endurance, it keeps giving rewarding, dense volumes of honey, citrus oil, old wood, and charcoal flavors - tease them out by playing with steep times. Push it hard and you get bitter tannic dancong-like flavors, with dried prune and sour grapefruit aftertaste. The aroma from the gaiwan lid shifts to baked apple pie, moist cake, toasted raisin bread with melted butter. What a stunner - a clear favourite from our 2016 Taiwan sourcing trip.
